TERMS OF USE

This is an agreement between you and Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS. By purchasing an enrollment in or by using a Marriage SOS online program (also called a home program, online course or crash course), scheduling a telephone consultation (also called a phone consult) with Debra Macleod, using our third-party sites, reading an article or accessing other material found on the DebraMacleod.com site, you agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement. Please also see our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The content provided by Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS is not medical, legal, psychological or personal advice, but rather general information (based on principles drawn from effective communication, conflict resolution and positive interactions, as well as Debra Macleod’s experience as a marital mediator, relationship author and coach) regarding marital / relationship problems, conflict, and dynamics: read more about Debra Macleod’s method by clicking here. Online programs, articles, and books do not and cannot provide relationship advice or help on an individual basis, and Debra Macleod is not engaged in rendering personal advice to the individual purchaser or user. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS cannot and will not be held liable for any act or omission allegedly arising, directly or indirectly, from the use or misuse of information provided in any product or service, including negligence on the part of Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS.

Online Programs: Scope, Suitability and Purpose

After June 1, 2025: Purchase of an enrollment allows you to access your online program(s) for a period of six months from the date of purchase.

Before June 1, 2025: Purchase of an enrollment allows you to access your online program(s) for a period of one year from the date of enrollment.

Audio and audio with video portions of the programs are streaming only, while supplements are downloadable as PDF’s. The terms of the Disclaimer above apply to Online Programs as well as Telephone Consultations and should be read and understood carefully before purchase.

Restrictions

Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS customers and users must be at least 18 years of age, or the legal age or majority in their jurisdiction if it is different. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS reserves the right to restrict access to an online program user at any point and/or to edit or delete a user’s account for any reason, without prior notice and without a refund.

No Refunds

Due to the non-returnable nature of online courses and the prevalence of buyer abuse / fraud in this digital age, Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS has a general no-refund policy. Our courses provide exceptional value for the cost, course sales pages and free audio introductions contain an accurate description of contents, the platform is reliable, and the multi-step payment process (designed to curtail unauthorized or impulsive purchases) is secure with anti-fraud measures in place. All of this means that buyers are able to make an informed and responsible purchase. Marriage SOS is not a free service and takes appropriate action against those who exploit its proprietary and copyrighted products via buyer fraud or other activity.

However, if you feel your situation is unique or exceptional, or that you should be exempted from this general no-refund policy by law or for any reason, please contact [email protected] for fast, friendly help. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. Customer support is available to provide personalized assistance, and purchasers will always find fair and flexible support.

An online program may be revised or discontinued at any time without prior notice. If a course is discontinued during your period of enrollment, you will receive a prorated refund.

For telephone consultations, 24 hours’ cancellation notice is required to receive a refund. Applicable refunds are typically issued via PayPal or Stripe within two business days. If Debra Macleod must cancel the telephone consultation in advance, you will be notified by email: Debra Macleod may refund your payment without notice, or give you the option to reschedule or receive a refund.

Customer Support for Online Programs

Customer support for online programs and other matters is limited to technical and account help only. Customer support cannot and will not provide relationship help nor respond to emails that contain or request personal relationship information. This applies to emails sent directly to [email protected] as well as messages sent via the contact feature on the Teachable platform. Any messages received that fall outside the scope of technical or account help will be deleted without being responded to. As stated in the Disclaimer above, online programs do not and cannot provide relationship advice or help on an individual basis, and Debra Macleod is not engaged in rendering personal advice to the individual purchaser or user.

Copyright: Personal Use, Non-disclosure and Non-compete

All of Debra Macleod’s content, including website, digital, print, audio, video and PDF material (e.g. program supplements), is copyrighted material. No part of Debra Macleod’s copyrighted material, including home programs, may be accessed, stored, reproduced, recorded or distributed in any form without Debra Macleod’s permission.

Online programs are for individual and personal marriage / relationship-focused use only. Beyond this use, you agree to keep confidential the proprietary content and information you receive in the materials and agree not to publish, share, resell, distribute, or summarize them for others’ use in any way. The information cannot be used or shared in blogs, vlogs, or other social media. You also agree that you will not use the copyrighted material or information you learn in the material in any commercial capacity, including a competing venture or business.

Third Party Sites

DebraMacleod.com contains links to sites that are owned and operated by reputable and privacy compliant third parties. These include the Teachable course platform for course enrollment and delivery, and Acuity Scheduling for booking telephone consultations. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS also uses third-party payment processors PayPal and Stripe. The Teachable course-hosting platform uses Stripe for payment processing.

Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS has no control over the terms of use, security, privacy, confidentiality, compatibility, functionality or availability of any linked website and is not responsible for these websites or their terms of use, security, privacy, confidentiality, compatibility, functionality or availability, or breaches thereof. Please see our privacy policy for more information.

Viruses, Malware and Data Breach

Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS prioritizes security and privacy, and adheres to industry best practices. We recommend that you install appropriate defenses against viruses and malware before you email, access, or download any information from any website, including DebraMacleod.com or linked third-party sites. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS will not be liable for any claim or damages suffered by any person due to the alleged presence of any virus or malware on DebraMacleod.com or any other website.

As per our privacy policy, the processing and storage of your personal data happens on our linked third-party sites (Teachable for course delivery and email support, Stripe or PayPal for payment processing, Acuity Scheduling for booking telephone consultations, and SSL-encrypted email via our website hosting company SiteGround). These reputable sites have their own industry best security measures and privacy policies. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS is not responsible for any data breach that may occur on these sites or platforms, and will not be liable for any claim or damages suffered by any person due to such data breach. We will, however, do our best to notify you of any relevant data breach we become aware of within 72 hours of discovery, as well as any possible steps you or we can take to help contain it.

Telephone Consultations

Telephone consultations are on a one-on-one basis: Unless otherwise agreed, Debra Macleod does not do conference calls with couples nor speak to both spouses during the same appointment. Calls may not be recorded by either party. Debra will dial the telephone number you provide at the scheduled time; however, if you do not answer after two attempts, the phone consult is deemed cancelled by you without notice and a refund will not be given. Once the phone consult is underway, either you or Debra Macleod may choose to end it at any point and for any reason and a refund will not be given, unless at the discretion of Debra Macleod.

The purpose of a telephone consultation is to provide general insights and strategies (drawing on the principles of effective communication, conflict resolution, and positive interactions, and Debra Macleod’s experience as a relationship author, coach and marital mediator) that may be relevant to your marital/relationship issue. These insights or strategies will be determined by information provided by you during the phone consult. You understand and agree that any insights or strategies provided are informational in nature, and you must use your own judgment when deciding whether or not, in what way(s), or to what extent, to implement them in your life or marriage/relationship. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS cannot guarantee the insights or strategies will apply to or improve your specific situation or marriage dynamics, and will not be held liable for any act or omission allegedly arising, directly or indirectly, from the use or misuse of information provided. The terms of the Disclaimer above apply to Online Programs as well as Telephone Consultations and should be read and understood carefully before purchase.

Confidentiality

When you contact Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS, whether by email or by enrolling in an online program or booking a telephone consultation, you agree to be contacted at the email address(es) or telephone number(s) you provide, and to have invoices, order confirmation email and/or other necessary correspondence from us and our third-party sites sent to such email address(es). Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS will treat all information discussed or written as confidential. Confidentiality will however be breached when and if it is required by law including the admission of criminal or harmful activities against an identifiable person or class or persons including self harm as well as harm to others.

Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS accepts no liability for damage caused by email virus or corruption, or data breach.

Technical Issues, including Site Outages, Server Issues and Browser Incompatibilities: 

In the event of technical problems, please visit the Technical Issues page on DebraMacleod.com for a troubleshooting checklist or email [email protected] and describe the problem: we will respond to you via email as quickly as possible.

While we make every effort to ensure that DebraMacleod.com and its linked third party sites are readily accessible and functioning, they may sometimes be inaccessible (e.g. due to maintenance or server issues), or they may not function properly with your web browser and operating system. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS will not be liable for any perceived or actual damages arising from the operation, content or use of its services, including compatibility or performance issues. It is your responsibility to ensure compatibility and functionality with your web browser and operating system.

Online programs are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without any warranty or condition. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS does not warrant that your use of or access to a home program will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, and does not warrant that errors can or will be corrected. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS will not be liable for any damages or loss resulting from the inability to use or access an online program and is not obligated to provide a refund.

Applicable Law and Venue

Because DebraMacleod.com can be accessed from countries and regions around the world, and because these places may have differing laws (and languages), an applicable and reasonable law and venue must be established. By accessing DebraMacleod.com and Debra Macleod’s / Marriage SOS’s content, products, and services (including online programs, telephone consultations, books and articles), you agree that the statutes and other laws of the Province of Alberta and the country of Canada (where Marriage SOS is headquartered), without regard to conflicts of laws and principles thereof, will apply to all matters arising from or relating to the use of DebraMacleod.com and Debra Macleod’s / Marriage SOS’s content, products and services. You also agree, and hereby attorn and submit, to the exclusive personal jurisdiction and venue of the federal district and provincial courts of Canada and Alberta with respect to such matters.

Other Policies

By agreeing to our terms of use, you are also agreeing to our privacy policy. Debra Macleod / Marriage SOS reserves the right to modify this agreement and policy without prior notice.
